Melbourne Knowledge Week is a festival that fuses art, technology, business and science to explore the future of the city. MKW 2017 runs from 1 to 7 May and its hub is located at State Library of Victoria.
Over 70 new wave events have been designed to inspire curious minds to collide and collaborate to bring future-focused ideas to life.
Throw yourself into a week full of innovation and creativity where you’ll hear from international industry leaders, test cutting-edge technology, taste future food and help to solve Melbourne’s future challenges.
Three events in particular have caught the eye of CWS for their sustainable and waste-conscious messages.

Tuck into one of the world’s fastest growing concerns – food insecurity.
At this catered event, attendees will learn to look at how we eat and waste food in a whole new way. Some of Melbourne’s most celebrated chefs will used rescued food (safe food that is about to be discarded) to create a delicious banquet.
Held is the beautiful Deli Hall, this event will be catering to all who love food, including the vegos and vegans among us.

Human effect employs new technologies to create a responsive public projection installation.
Impact on the environment is increasingly evident, from global warming to diminishing resources.
Yandell Walton uses projection art to merge with existing public spaces, starting a conversation about politics, society, and the environment. Yandell explores how human touch affects the natural world with unnatural results.

Food, glorious food: a design sprint to innovate Melbourne’s food

How can we solve food waste, regenerate our soils and support our farmers? What are the ideas, innovations and business models that are going to disrupt and transform our food system?
