The landmark Pullman Melbourne on the Park hotel will undergo a major $6 million interior redevelopment which will provide the hotel with a new identity, bringing it in line with the Pullman Hotels & Resorts’ global brand.
The redevelopment will be undertaken by ROTHELOWMAN, who will fully refurbish the hotel arrival area, including the reception space and two food and beverage outlets.
“This project creates the opportunity to activate the ground plan by creating a transparency that connects the external streetscape with the internal lobby, along with a radically redesigned, more intimate series of interconnected spaces within,” Andrew Wales, ROTHELOWMAN associate principal, says.
ROTHELOWMAN plans to rejuvenate a number of inefficient rooms within the hotel and visually integrate the hotel with its exterior. The renovations to the bar lounge and restaurant areas aim to make the venue an appealing destination for local residents as well as hotel guests.
Pullman Melbourne on the Park is situated opposite the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and the Fitzroy Gardens. As such, the new design will create spaces that can respond to the added capacity required in peak times during events at the MCG. Alicia Lynch, senior associate and lead designer on the project, says the design of the reception, bar lounge and restaurant areas responds to the colours and textures of the Fitzroy Gardens with a variance of light and dark treatments throughout. “In the bar lounge we will see warm textures evoking an ambience consistent with the Pullman brand using a design approach,” says Lynch.
“Conversely, the restaurant area retains the formality of an upscale executive hotel while still providing a casual and inviting space that is light and airy throughout. Our lobby design will convey the established identity of the Pullman brand.”
The Pullman brand is AccorHotels’ new generation of upscale hotels, offering hyper-connected travellers an experience that combines both efficiency and wellness.
