Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Australia and New Zealand will launch a Trans-Tasman campaign in September to encourage businesses to buy products that carry the FSC label as part of the not-for-profit’s global certification scheme that rewards forest friendly growers, manufacturers and retailers.

The month-long campaign leading up to FSC Friday on September 25, aims to highlight the impact procurement professionals and consumers can have when they choose products sourced from responsibly managed forests. The social media campaign supported by brands like Tork and retailers including Officeworks, will remind consumers to look out for the FSC label on everyday items like toilet paper, facial tissues, hand towel, napkins and wipers so they can ensure their purchase is supporting responsible forest managers.

Sid Takla, Executive General Manager at Tork Professional Hygiene said, “We are pleased to once again be a regional Gold Sponsor for FSC Friday and are focused on raising awareness of responsible forestry practices and principles in the region. We are proud that over 60 products in the Tork range are FSC certified and one hundred percent of their virgin fibre-based material comes from non-controversial, environmentally responsible sources.”

FSC Australia CEO Adam Beaumont said, “When a business or consumer buys an FSC certified product, they can be confident every stage of its supply chain has been independently assessed to ensure it’s sourced from a responsibly harvested natural or plantation forest, which meets the FSC’s rigorous economic, environmental and social standards.”

Beaumont added that growing business and consumer demand for FSC certified products in both local and international markets over the last few years had driven measurable change back through the supply chain, resulting in an unprecedented number of forest managers seeking to improve their practices in line with FSC standards.

In 2015 FSC is celebrating with a Facebook competition for supporters in both Australia and New Zealand, to win an amazing holiday for four, all expenses paid, to Paperbark Camp eco-resort in Jervis Bay (NSW). To enter visit
